Berit Strong
Berit Strong has over 30 years of professional experience as a classical guitarist, guitar teacher, and recording musician. She is an award-winning international performer of classical guitar repertoire ranging from renaissance through contemporary music.

Ms. Strong is a cum laude graduate of the Hartt School of Music as well as a graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music where she achieved a  Distinction in Performance recognition.

Experienced Performer
Berit placed 3rd in the 1986 Guitar Foundation of America International Competition (GFA), which launched her performing career. The presenters in the GFA audience invited her to perform in Hungary, Yugoslavia, New York City, and Cleveland.

She is an international performing musician, performing classical guitar compositions from renaissance through contemporary, including several world premiers. She's performed 9 consecutive concerts presented by the Rome Festival Orchestra, a concert at the Belgrade Cultural Center, the Esztergom Guitar Festival (with Alice Artzt), and the Hvar Music Festival.  

Locally, Ms. Strong has performed several times as a special guest artist at the National Flute Association Conventions and as a soloist in concert with the Indian Hill Symphony and the Wellesley Symphony Orchestra.

Berit's classical guitar performances have been featured on National Public Radio, World Service Internationals, Swiss Radio, and many other media outlets.
 
Ms. Strong's performance schedule also includes playing beautiful classical guitar for wedding ceremonies throughout New England.

Berit performs both as a guitar soloist and accompanied by a flutist. She often performs for other functions as well including cocktail hours, parties and other events that call for elegant classical guitar music.
Berit enjoys giving private classical, folk and rock guitar lessons to students of all ages, children and adults at both her home music studio in Acton MA and Art Space in Maynard MA.

She is also on the faculty at the Indian Hill Music Center in Littleton MA.

Berit also performs on the Viola da Gamba. This beautiful bass instrument resembles the cello, but with a slightly more delicate sound. 

She has performed on the Viola da Gamba at Brandeis University, in numerous Handel's Messiah Sing Alongs and many other performances.

Recording Musician
Berit is also a recording artist. Her CD Norwegian Landscape is a critically acclaimed solo acoustic guitar CD recording of some of the world's classic pieces for acoustic guitar. Featuring works by JS Bach to contemporary composers like Larry Cooperman and David Cullen this wonderful collection showcases Berit's outstanding guitar technique and sensitive musical interpretations.
